หมากเม่า | Forest Currant, Wild Currant
(Antidesma bunius)
ไม้ยืนต้นขนาดเล็กถึงกลาง สูง 5–15 เมตร ใบเดี่ยวรูปรีหรือรีแกมขอบขนาน สีเขียวเข้มเป็นมัน ดอกขนาดเล็ก ออกเป็นช่อกระจะตามซอกใบหรือปลายกิ่ง ผลเป็นผลสดกลมรี ขนาดเล็ก สีเขียวเมื่ออ่อน และเปลี่ยนเป็นสีแดงหรือม่วงดำเมื่อสุก รสเปรี้ยวฝาด พบทั่วไปในป่าเบญจพรรณ ป่าดิบแล้ง และตามเชิงเขาในประเทศไทย ลาว และเวียดนาม
Small to medium-sized tree, 5–15 m tall. Leaves are simple, oblong to elliptic, dark green and glossy. Tiny flowers are borne in axillary or terminal racemes. Fruits are small drupes, green when young, turning red to dark purple when ripe, with a sour and astringent taste. Commonly found in mixed deciduous forests, dry evergreen forests, and foothills in Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.
