ไม้ต้นผลัดใบขนาดกลาง สูง 8–15 เมตร เรือนยอดเป็นพุ่มกลมค่อนข้างทึบ ใบเดี่ยว เรียงสลับ รูปไข่ถึงรูปรี ขอบใบเรียบ ผิวใบสากเล็กน้อย ดอกออกเป็นช่อกระจุกแน่น สีเหลืองทองสดใส มีกลิ่นหอมอ่อนคล้ายรวงผึ้ง บานสะพรั่งพร้อมกันในฤดูฝนถึงต้นฤดูหนาว ผลเป็นผลแห้งแตก มีขนปกคลุม พบในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ได้แก่ ไทย ลาว เวียดนาม และมาเลเซีย ในไทยพบมากตามป่าเบญจพรรณและป่าดิบแล้ง
A medium-sized deciduous tree, 8–15 m tall, with a dense, rounded crown. Leaves simple, alternate, ovate to elliptic, rough on the surface with entire margins. Flowers borne in dense clusters, bright golden-yellow, with a mild fragrance reminiscent of honeycombs. Blooming occurs from the rainy season to early winter. Fruits are dry capsules covered with fine hairs. Distributed across Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Malaysia. In Thailand, it is commonly found in mixed deciduous and dry evergreen forests.

ให้ร่มเงา เหมาะสำหรับปลูกในสวนสาธารณะและริมถนน
เนื้อไม้เหนียว ใช้ทำเครื่องเรือนและงานก่อสร้างเบา

The wood is tough and can be used for light construction and furniture.
