ไม้ยืนต้นกึ่งผลัดใบ ขนาดกลาง สูง 5–15 เมตร เปลือกสีน้ำตาลอมเทา ใบเดี่ยวรูปคล้ายกีบวัว ปลายเว้าเข้าหากัน ดอกออกเป็นช่อ ออกดอกมากในฤดูหนาวถึงต้นร้อน สีขาวบริสุทธิ์หรือขาวอมชมพู มีกลิ่นหอมอ่อน ผลเป็นฝักแบนยาว มีเมล็ดหลายเมล็ด พบในป่าเบญจพรรณ ป่าโปร่ง และปลูกเป็นไม้ประดับในหลายประเทศ เช่น ไทย เมียนมา อินเดีย และจีนตอนใต้
A small to medium-sized deciduous tree, 10–15 m tall, with distinctive bilobed leaves resembling butterfly wings. Large white flowers bloom abundantly from winter to early spring. Fruits are long, flat pods containing several seeds. Grows in mixed deciduous forests and open woodlands, and is widely cultivated as an ornamental tree in Thailand, Myanmar, India and southern China.
