ไม้ยืนต้นผลัดใบ สูง 10–20 เมตร เรือนยอดเป็นพุ่มโปร่ง เปลือกต้นสีน้ำตาลอมเทา แตกเป็นร่องตื้น มียางขม ใบประกอบแบบขนนก เรียงเวียน ใบย่อยรูปหอก ปลายแหลม ขอบหยักฟันเลื่อย ดอกช่อสีขาว มีกลิ่นหอม ผลสดรูปรี ขนาด 1–2 ซม. เมื่อสุกสีเหลืองอมเขียว พบทั่วไปตามพื้นที่โล่ง ป่าเบญจพรรณ และพื้นที่ทั่วประเทศไทย โดยเฉพาะภาคเหนือและอีสาน กระจายพันธุ์กว้างในเอเชียใต้ เอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ตลอดจนแอฟริกาตะวันออก
A deciduous tree, 10–20 m tall, with a spreading crown. Bark grayish-brown, fissured, exuding bitter sap. Leaves pinnate, alternate, with lanceolate leaflets and serrated margins. Flowers are small, white, fragrant, borne in panicles. Fruits are drupe-like, ovoid, 1–2 cm long, turning yellowish-green when ripe. Commonly found in open areas, mixed deciduous forests, and agricultural land throughout Thailand, especially in the North and Northeast. Widely distributed across South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Africa.

ยอดอ่อนและดอกนำมาลวกจิ้มน้ำปลาหวาน หรือใช้ทำแกง
ใบและเปลือกใช้เป็นยาแก้ไข้ ขับพยาธิ น้ำมันจากเมล็ดใช้เป็นยาฆ่าแมลงธรรมชาติ
เนื้อไม้แข็ง ใช้ทำเสา ทำฟืน หรือเครื่องเรือน
ใช้ปลูกเป็นไม้ร่มเงา ทนแล้ง และทนโรคแมลง
Benefits:
Young shoots and flowers eaten blanched with dip or cooked in curry.
Leaves and bark used for fever reduction and deworming; seed oil used as natural insecticide.
Hard wood suitable for poles, firewood, and furniture.
Shade tree, highly drought- and pest-resistant.
