พะยูง | Siamese Rosewood
(Dalbergia cochinchinensis Pierre)
ไม้ยืนต้นผลัดใบ ขนาดกลางถึงใหญ่ สูงประมาณ 15–25 เมตร เปลือกสีเทาแตกเป็นร่องตามยาว ดอกขนาดเล็ก สีเหลืองอ่อน ออกเป็นช่อที่ปลายกิ่งหรือซอกใบ ผลเป็นฝักแบน รูปแถบ ยาว 5–7 ซม. มีเมล็ดแบนสีน้ำตาล พบในป่าเบญจพรรณ ทางภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ ภาคตะวันออกของไทย และบางส่วนของลาว และเวียดนาม
A medium to large deciduous tree, 15–25 m tall. Bark is grayish and longitudinally fissured. Small yellowish-white flowers bloom in panicles at the branch tips. Fruits are flat, strap-shaped pods, 5–7 cm long, containing flat brown seeds. Grows in mixed deciduous and dry dipterocarp forests. Native to northeastern and eastern Thailand, as well as Laos and Vietnam.
